Jair Bolsonaro has been arrested after authorities concluded he posed a serious risk of fleeing while under house arrest.

The ex-president was convicted of plotting a military coup in the ninth month and given more than over two decades in incarceration, but he remained under confinement pending court reviews.

Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Justice Moraes said the decision to arrest the septuagenarian politician was a preventative measure after "new facts" were revealed.

This encompassed attempting to break his electronic bracelet and a invitation to a public vigil that could enable a potential flight.

Judicial Records Show Escape Concerns
